Cayamo began a day early this year, as we decided to go to Lakeland first and catch a Tigers' spring training game. We had seats right behind the catcher and enjoyed the game, even if the Tigers didn't win. We got the bonus of a spectacular sunset in town when we got back to the hotel!

The Cayamo Experience

Highlights of this trip included a memorable breakfast and a memorable lunch.

There are a number of Cayamoans attending the Rhine, Women and Song river cruise October 2025, and not all of us know each other. So we met for breakfast to introduce ourselves and get to know each other a bit.

Along the same lines, because Karen and Alan each have connections to Susan Werner, they we able to set up a lunch with her. When we entered the dining room, Rad Lorkovic just happened to have decided to play the piano in the center of the room. It was a wonderful bonus to the lunch!

I'm With Her on the pool deck

I'm With Her: They were not billed as an act on the ship this week, but it was hardly surprising that they turned out to the "Stowaway" for the sail-away show, given that all three members were on board as solo artists. It was a fantastic set and a great start to the week.

Trousdale in the atrium

Trousdale: I'd liked their music when I'd listened before the cruise, but they turned up their sound so loud that the show was painful. So we didn't go to any more of their sets.

Matthew Fowler in the Great Outdoors

Matthew Fowler: The music was great and he was such a trooper. It started pouring, a deluge, and he kept playing. The audience was completely under cover, but he was not.

Carsie Blanton in the Spinnaker

Carsie Blanton: I'd never heard of her before. Her entire persona is catharsis for these terrible times we are living in. She is the Woody Guthrie for the 21st century.

Susan Werner, Gabe Lee, Jaimee Harris and Robby Hecht

The Susan Werner & Friends show: While Jaimee Harris was singing “Hot in Here”, Susan started doing a striptease and got Gabe Lee to join in. They had everyone rolling in the aisles.

Heading out to snorke

Unlike most years, this year we actually got off the boat and did snorkeling tour. They took us out to a reef to do some snorkeling, then over to a small island where we could hike and take in the views.

Steve Poltz & John Craigie set: They closed their show with a brand new song: "Dear Elon", making fun of Elon's demand that everybody email him with what they accomplished in the previous week. It was cathartic to be able to laugh at some of the horrors happening in the government.

Mike Mentz was memorable for... his attempts to be memorable. He was talked about as the guy who put a CD on every single cabin, and then became the pied piper, singing "Wonderwall" over and over as folks danced behind him around the ship.
